View the schedule of meeting sessions and special events
1. ADEM will be replacing the current “permit-by-rule” system with a general NPDES permit. The General Permit will incorporate new EPA requirements for effluent limit guidelines for turbidity on construction sites. The transition to a General Permit will begin with an initial draft permit, which ADEM is making available for initial stakeholder review. In addition, ADEM will hold a series of workshops around the State later this summer to review the initial draft permit, answer questions, and receive feedback. We encourage your members to sign up for one of these free sessions. Thompson Engineering will be sponsoring the session that is being held in Mobile on Thursday, August 26, 2010. Follow the link below for more information and/or to register.

2. To help you prepare for these new rules and requirements, our QCI Initial Training Classes provide your members with the best, most comprehensive training in construction storm water pollution prevention practices. Our next initial training classes will be held in Mobile on Thursday, July 29, 2010 and in Birmingham (Irondale) on Wednesday, August 11, 2010. To learn the latest-and-greatest information about preventing erosion and controlling sediment on construction sites, please use the attached form to register.
3. Thompson Engineering is also pleased to announce that ADEM has approved an online version of our QCI Refresher Training course. This new course gives our current QCI students another option for completing the yearly continuing education requirements of the QCI program. We think that your association members will like the convenience of the online refresher. Your members may use the attached form to register for this option, or call Celeste Viola (251-665-5446) or me for more information. The cost is only $79 per student; pre-payment is required.
As always, thank you for your support of this program!
