Oil-Free Convention A Success

Monday, July 12, 2010

As usual it was hot and humid, the golf was great, the tennis players were brave and the beachcombers stayed cool between volleyball matches. And, as usual, the beaches were beautiful for the Alabama AGC Chapter-wide Convention in June at Sandestin.

“Attendance was excellent, we had no drop off,” said AGC CFO Daryl Hutchins. “We had a great crowd and the oil stayed away. We could not have timed it any better.”

Hutchins said members enjoyed the opportunity to meet Republican gubernatorial candidate Bradley Byrne as well attend some interesting sessions put on by Burr & Forman.

One thing was different this year, however. The board of directors had the opportunity to meet with the Mississippi leadership at the Thursday night dinner.

2010 Mississippi AGC President Cornel Clement, Board Members Liles Williams and John Nall and Executive Director Perry Nations joined with the Alabama AGC leadership at the special event.

And, lest we forget, Jeff Wilson – who shot at 67 on Baytowne -- won the golf tournament for the second consecutive year.
