A Great Start to 2015

The Birmingham Section started 2015 with a political reception at the Murray Building Co. jobsite at the old Merita Bread Bakery. More than 150 members were in attendance with city and state officials. Everyone enjoyed a tour of the site as well as barbecue from Joe McNabb and Hendrix Chevrolet.

Section President Mark Harry welcomed everyone to the event and mentioned the AGC has a strong agenda for the coming year, including legislative work on The Craft Training Bill and a proposed change in the retainage laws.

Alabama AGC CEO Billy Norrell asked the legislators in attendance to stand and told them the AGC appreciates their work for the industry.

“This is an excellent way for us to get to know each other better in an informal atmosphere,” he said.

Some of the legislators in attendance were: state sens. Shay Shellnutt, Linda Coleman and Jim McClendon; state reps. David Standridge, David Faulkner, Allen Farley and Arnold Mooney.
