The East Alabama Workforce Initiative Network recently hosted a Student Career Expo for more than 4,000 middle school students on February 17 and 18 at the Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum on the campus of Auburn University,
Students arrived from schools located throughout the Governor's Workforce Region 8 - Bullock, Chambers, Lee, Macon, and Russell Counties - and were exposed to various industries. Various representatives from the construction and design industry manned The Architecture & Construction Cluster in which students were exposed to various aspects of construction - from design professionals to project management and the trades.
Representatives from GoBuild Alabama, Auburn University BSCI, Tuskegee University, and various contracting companies to expose the students to various industry entry points. Hands-on exhibits included laying brick, driving nails and screws, wiring connections, and exposure to various tools and equipment. Much appreciation goes to AGC member Bailey Harris Construction Company, Inc. for their leadership and contributions to this wonderful event.
