The Birmingham Section started 2015 with a political reception at the Murray Building Co. jobsite at the old Merita Bread Bakery. More than 150 members were in attendance with city and state officials. Everyone enjoyed a tour of the site as well as barbecue from Joe McNabb and Hendrix Chevrolet.

A New Look in the Shoals

Shoals members came out April 9 to get an up-close look at the new-look Shoals Section office. The Alabama AGC just finished an extensive remodel of the office – the first in 27 years – and members were invited to an open house to celebrate. Shoals Section Open House Pictures

Sen. Tim Melton attended the event, taking the opportunity to visit with contractors in his district.

“This project was the culmination of a lot of work by the Shoals Section Building Committee and the AGC Board of Directors,” said Melody Cross, Shoals Section manager. “The new look better represents the Alabama AGC’s status in the industry.

“I want to express appreciation for our members who worked hard on this project to make it a reality to keep the price in budget.”

During the work, the Shoals Section also upgraded its audio visual capabilities in the training room and its ability to host meetings for members and employees at the AGC facility.

The Shoals Section office also houses a busy plan room and copying operation.
