Alabama AGC Members
Introduce Kids to Construction
More than 2,000 middle school students attended the Eastman Worlds of Work Career Expo at the Oxford Civic Center February 24 – 25, 2016.
Students from Calhoun County, Cleburne County and Munford attended the Worlds of Work Expo. Alabama AGC members took the lead on the “Construction World.” Jay Howard and Chelsea Woods with Webb Concrete worked hard to coordinate hands-on activities for the event.
The overall career fair was arranged by Eastman and the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce. Heflin Industrial Development Board and Cleburne County Chamber of Commerce were also involved in planning the two-day event.
Special thanks are due to Gadsden State (Painting Booth), Cemex (Brick Laying Booth), Littleton Electric (Electrical Booth), Hurst Construction (Nail Driving Contest), Alabama AGC (Wheel Barrel Toss), Forsyth Building (Test Drive of Backhoe), and Anniston Water Works (Test Drive of Backhoe).
The fair was a success and plans are underway to make Worlds of Work an annual event.
