Industry day was recently held at the Pipefitter Apprenticeship School LU 372, In Tuscaloosa, AL. This was a three day event with a day for students, interested parties, and local industry partners to come tour the facilities, followed by two days of training/certifications for instructors. 50 of the 80 instructors in the state of Alabama attend the training sessions. Not only were the instructors updated on new methods, but they were also given the opportunity to brush up on the old and practice on the equipment in the apprenticeship school. Between the tour day and the training over 225 people passed through the apprenticeship school.
The Birmingham Section started 2015 with a political reception at the Murray Building Co. jobsite at the old Merita Bread Bakery. More than 150 members were in attendance with city and state officials. Everyone enjoyed a tour of the site as well as barbecue from Joe McNabb and Hendrix Chevrolet.
