With over 5,100 members in 14 Regions across the United States, DBIA is committed to promoting design-build done right in both the public and private sectors.
Design-build continues to grow in use and popularity, accounting for just over 40% of all design and construction in the United States due primarily to the ability of owners to achieve best value while meeting cost, schedule and quality goals. For the past few years, however, the South Central Region has not seen the growth evidenced in other parts of the country. This can be attributed to various factors, but primarily to the lack of legislative authority. With recent legislative victories in the Region including new design-build authority in Alabama and the extension of authority in Mississippi, and broad authority in Tennessee, DBIA is presented with a unique opportunity to reinvigorate the Region while helping owners in the South Central Region reap the full benefits of this project delivery method – matching trends we’ve seen in the rest of the country.
DBIA board and staff leadership have made deliberate strides to help strengthen DBIA at the regional and local level. As a first step in this important initiative, key national staff from the Advocacy, Region Development and Executive Offices, in partnership with Region leadership will be visiting several cities in the South in late June. The goal is to solicit feedback on how DBIA can provide further support and services to the region, including ways to educate and engage owners, and discussions of programs and speakers that would be of interest. Please see the attached flyer for additional details.
DBIA will be hosting “lunch and learn” meetings in the following Alabama cities. For more information, click the links below:
