The Birmingham Section started 2015 with a political reception at the Murray Building Co. jobsite at the old Merita Bread Bakery. More than 150 members were in attendance with city and state officials. Everyone enjoyed a tour of the site as well as barbecue from Joe McNabb and Hendrix Chevrolet.

Deep South Center for Occupational Heath & Safety to Host Hazardous Materials Workshop on May 26

The Deep South Center for Occupational Health & Safety is hosting a Hazardous Materials Workshop with optional DOT Exam in Birmingham on May 26, 2017.

This course will educate participants on the handling of hazardous materials. Students will test their understanding of the subject using hands-on activities and will be given the option of taking the DOT required test at the conclusion of the course.

The course is applicable to employees who need DOT training, including supervisors, trainers, shippers, and drivers, and is mandatory for any employee who selects or fills out hazardous material packages, label containers, complete shipping papers, load or unload vehicles, trainload hazardous materials, or operatevehicles used in transport.

The class will be held from 8:30 to 4:30 at the Courtyard Marriott - Homewood located at 500 Shades Creek Parkway.
