PowerUp Career Fair

Central Six Development Council Alabama Workforce Council Region 4, Girls Inc. of Central Alabama, Robins & Morton and AIDT/AWTC formed a collaborative partnership to present "Power UP: It's a Mother-Daughter Thing!" The past two years have been tremendously successful with over 600 attendees, employer partners and training providers. This year's annual event promises to educate, engage and encourage even more mothers and daughters into exploring career opportunities in the construction industry.

In an effort to ensure each mother and daughter is educated about future career opportunities after this event we need your help. We invite your organization to participate through any, or both, of the following capacities:

  *   Provide 2 representatives from your company, preferably female, to host an information table and allow for networking opportunities for the participants (ex. Project Manager, Project Superintendent, Project Controls, Quality Control, Engineer, Business Development). Information to share may include an overview of the company, various careers related to the firm's services, and salaries.

  *   Provide a hands on activity that simulates a real-world construction scenario in which the young women can engage.

The collaborative partners are working together in an effort to address the lack of female participation in the construction workforce. In order to increase and encourage the participation of women in construction, the collaborative recognizes that educating young talent, creating partnerships at all levels and removing barriers are pertinent factors in developing a diversified and stronger construction industry workforce.

We are excited about this event and hope that you will consider participating. For more information please feel free to contact Edie Gibson egibson@centralsix.org
